What a great day to finish off the 2010 season: temps were in the mid 70's, humidity levels were low, and the air pressure was high...the way things should be!

Corey Herman had a transbrake malfunction that worked out to his advantage on the first qualifying pass of the day...a perfect .000 reaction time was the result of the 'malfunction' and led the field of fourteen (our best turnout in quite some time) and Russ Pearson held the anchor spot.

1. Corey Herman .000
2. Craig Cook .005
3. John Miller .007
4. Bill Lehman .012
5. Gene Hinders .012
6. Jim Winters Sr .018
7. Merv Clausen .030
8. Alex Harken .054
9. Bill Kahn .056
10. Scott Vargason .059
11. Mark Weerheim .076
12. Al Enderson .093
13. Eric Sloan .228
14. Russ Pearson .726

ROUND ONE
Name............Car..........Index......RT......ET.......MPH.....W/L

Corey Herman---79 ElCamino**10.18****.029***10.513****106.50****W
Alex Harken-----82 Camaro*****9.88*****.494***10.006****135.41****L
An uncharacteristically late light by Alex allowed corey to cruise to the first round win of the day.

Craig Cook------67 Camaro****10.91*****.014***11.050****113.19****W
Bill Kahn---------68 Mustang***10.53*****.247***10.547****125.10****L
Craig turned the better reaction time and held on for the round win despite Bill being closer to his index.

Scott Vargason--80 Mustang***10.79*****.068***10.945****122.74****W
John Miller-------70 Nova******10.41*****.074***10.567****118.51****L
Reaction time played the key in Scott's win over John's always consistent Nova.

Jim Winters Sr--65 Falcon****10.74*****.301***10.944****113.58****W
Eric Sloan------86 Mustang***13.40*****.490***13.533****103.41****L
With neither racer "wired" to the tree it was an ugly win for Jim over Eric in this first round match-up.

Gene Hinders---79 Fairmont**10.40*****.070***10.405****127.71****W
Al Enderson-----68 Camaro*****8.70*****.129****8.623****147.67****L
While not a great reaction time Gene's better RT forced Al to breakout trying to run down the Fairmont.

Mark Weerheim--87 Mustang***11.44***.094***11.497***114.41****W
Bill Lehman-----68 Mustang***10.16*****.026***10.354****128.20****L
A battle between Top Five racers had Mark coming out on top this time as Bill ran into problems trying to hit his index.

Merv Clausen---74 Camaro****11.31*****.107***11.289****111.62****W
Russ Pearson----90 Mustang***11.65--------------BROKE-------------L
Electrical gremlins reared their heads on Russ's Mustang at the worst time and Mr.Merv took a 'Competition Single' in his Camaro.

Quarter-Finals
Name............Car..........Index......RT......ET.......MPH.....W/L

Jim Winters Sr--65 Falcon****10.74*****.213***10.921****120.07****W
Scott Vargason--80 Mustang***10.79*********BROKE*********************L
Tough luck for Scott but a break for Jim in his Falcon in the first 1/4 Finals match.

Craig Cook------67 Camaro****10.91*****.169***11.030****112.18****W
Merv Clausen----74 Camaro****11.31*****.044***11.685*****98.46****L
Craig overcame a Mr.Merv holeshot to take the win in this pair.

Mark Weerheim--87 Mustang***11.44****.020***11.493***112.68****W
Gene Hinders---79 Fairmont***10.40*****.073***10.411****130.28****L
Both drivers were on and off the gas trying to take the win but Mark's RT was the key in the winning pass.

Corey Herman---79 ElCamino***10.18*****foul***No-Time*************W
Trans-brake woes continued but didn't stop Corey from advancing yet again.

Semi-Finals
Name............Car..........Index......RT......ET.......MPH.....W/L

Craig Cook------67 Camaro****10.91*****.036***11.126****114.66****W
Jim Winters Sr--65 Falcon****10.74******.149***10.894****122.96****L
Reaction time was once again the key in the round win for Craig in this pairing.

Mark Weerheim--87 Mustang***11.44****.111***11.470***114.40****W
Corey Herman---79 ElCamino***10.18****.091***10.291***129.95****L
Being closer to the index overcame the slight holeshot on this run for Mark.

Finals
Name............Car..........Index......RT......ET.......MPH.....W/L

Craig Cook------67 Camaro****10.91*****.033***10.950****118.30****W
Mark Weerheim--87 Mustang***11.44****.030***11.537***114.08****L
Close reactions from both finalists meant it was going to be determined by who could hit their index and Craig got it done this run.

A great turnout and great weather was just what the doctor ordered...we couldn't have asked for better conditions! The reaction times during the qualifying passes was brutal...they got lost a little when the racing started with a few exceptions (as the pair in the finals for example)...the racing was close as usual and the track staff did a great job in getting our program off without a hitch even when we had racers in trouble back in the pits.
We hope that Phil Tenney gets his ole Fairlane back in tiptop shape soon as he broke a rear axle during a bracket-race oriented pass and had to bow out of O/C competition before round one was called to the lanes...and we hope that Russ Pearson gets his electrical gremlins sorted out and gets to unleash that very nice Mustang GT of his.
We had quite a few new racers join the fun once again and we hope that they had a good enough time to put us down on their 'To Do List' for 2011 as well. Thanks to the regulars for coming out time and time again...we've got a good series going here and it looks like it's about ready to grow!

Gene Hinders
